In researching my new book, The Girl on Valencia Street, I often refer to these two videos one showing San Francisco's Market Street only a day or two before the 1906 earthquake, and the other showing the same street hours after Note the Ferry Building at the end of the street in the "before" video. It survived the quake, but you can't see it in the "after" video, because it is concealed by smoke and flames from the fires that immediately followed.
